According to the news, those foreign owned supermarkets including Wal-mart from USA, Carrefour from France and UK's Tesco have taken up about 60% market shares. What's more, they are expanding more rapidly than their Chinese counterparts. In particular, there is much room for them in the medium-sized and small cities. It is estimated that they will keep their advantages at least in two or three years.

Compared with those small shops, the products' prices are much cheaper. Meanwhile, it has many other advantages, such as convenient one-stop shopping, accessible location and other commercial facilities.

Recently, the Carrefour has opened its 101st store in China and Wal-mart made a deal of 1billion to control the Bounteous Co, his Chinese rival. However, those Chinese domestic supermarkets have not developed as successfully as those foreign supermarkets. The Homeworld has been merged by Vanguard due to its poor management. Another Chinese supermarket Seastar also can not compete with those foreign marts.

What do you think of those foreign owned marts? Are they as good as those in their own countires? BTW, have you ever bought something in Chinese supermarkets? What do you think of them?
