I will live in China for the next few months. I learn more and more about the 'hot Chinese stock market' and the 'great deals' everyone seems to be making trading here. (I believe, primarily on Shanghai and Shenzhen SEs and maybe the HK SE?). At home (and here now) I trade US and European stocks through my E-Trade account. Of course I can trade institutional 'China' mutual funds but I'm interested in selecting individually Mainland China exchange traded issues! Anyone can give me 'China Trading 101' advice: stock research and online purchase? GM

As far as I know there is no online trading yet and foreigners are restricted in what they can trade. If I am contradicted I will be interested too. I assume these limitations are why another person is seeking a partner to trade here.

Paul, foreigner are allowed to do investment in China stock market. However, they are restricted as you said. You can do investment in China A-share market through QFII(Qualified foreign institutional investor). Or you can get A shares according to the Measures for Administration of Strategic Investments of Foreign Investors inListed Companies.

JimmyM: and how do you actually do that? Can you do it 'online'? Or whom do you have to call/contact? GM

Sorry, Greenmountain. Actually, I do not trade shares. I just find some info on the internet and hope it can be helpful.
