![]() | I believe one of the sacred mountains is not far from Xi'an. Having climbed Emei Shan I can recommend the experience if you do the climb...riding a bus to the top would make it just another monastary. |

![]() | Just as Griz said, the Mt.Huashan (one of the five sacred mountains) is not far from Xi'an. The other four are Hengshan in Hunan Province, Songshan in Henan Province, Taishan in Shandong Province, and Hengshan in Shanxi Province. Each of them has its own unique features. Exceept the Terra Cotta Warriors, here are many other cultural and historical tourist destinations that are also worth a visit. Why not stay in Xi'an for several days? |

![]() | Did you mean the 5 Taoist mountains, or 4 Buddhist mountains? If you mean the 5 Taoist mountains, personally I think Taishan and Huashan are the ones most worth going to. I would heartily advise you to skip the 3 Gorges cruise. Did you mention Dunhuang? That's a 22-hour or so train ride from Xi'an! What are your sightseeing interests and preferences? What's your expected daily budget? How long exactly do you have to spend in China? You might want to email me directly at yahoo.com|ellyse99, put "TravelChinaGuide" and your own username (eg GUEST96355) in the subject line so that I know who you are, thanks. |
