landing visa

guestgreg I need to visit Guang Zhou for a few days only. I have an American passport and will be flying to Macao or Hong Kong from Taiwan. Can I get a landing visa on arrival? Or must I apply in Hong Kong, pay the hundred or so US, and wait a day before I get it? I did that before, only to arrive on a boat in Zhong Shan and see a "landing visa" office in which they told me that for just a week I did not need the one I got in Hong Kong. That was 8 years ago, so I would like to know if its the same now and for Guang Zhou. Thanks for any advice!

My understanding is that you need a proper visa. Shenzhen and Zhuhai are special economic zones with easier arrangements but I don't think Guangzhou is. I have not heard of anyone talking about a landing visa before.

Definitely need a single-entry visa from HK to enter into GZ.

You can't get visa on arrival in Beijing Capital Airport, Taiwan passports are not recognized by China government, you can use Entry Permit of Taiwan Residents to the Mainland, otherwise, you have to obtain a China Travel Document to enter Mainland China.

The opening time of Gongbei customs is 0730-2400. BTW, Zhuahi visa on arrival only allows you to stay within Zhuhai for up to 3 days.
