 | Hey whats up, So I was wondering if any of you American guys who married in China are supporting your Lao Po's there? because I was wondering what is the easiest way to sending money there? such as Western Union? or any other method? Oh yeah, if you support your wife where she doesn't have to work, I believe the proper term is "Tai tai" instead of "Lao Po" but what ever is cool with you. Thanks Danny |

| Western Union is very costly ($30+) if you do the transaction on line. It is about $15 if you walk into the Western Union office with the cash. However, they also exchange the currency at their own rates. I believe my last transaction was 7.46 RMB while the official exchange was 7.51 RMB. As an alternative, you could establish a special bank account; transfer money into it when required; send the ATM card to your gal; and be certain that your bank knows that you are frequent visitor to China so that it does not lock the card. 太太 = Mrs??? |

| Hey Griz, So if you send funds via Western Union, how does she receive it there in China? because I did not see one Western Union there, but a whole lot of banks like Agriculture or Construction bank of.. . . Oh and what was that there Griz? I don't get what ?? = Mrs??? means. Thanks Danny |

| I believe the money is picked up at any China Post office using the MTN (money transfer number). With an ATM card you can get funds from an American bank account at the Bank of China. I tried to convert tai tai into Chinese characters. I do not know if I was successful. I was attempting to confirm my translation. tai tai = 太太 = Mrs. ??? |

| GUEST22265 | Bank of America owns 13% of the China Construction Bank and you can deposit funds into any BoA account and withdraw it from any CCB ATM machine without a fee. You would have to send the ATM card to your TaiTai and PIN but then you could get her money for no fees. CCB are everywhere and the ATM can double as a debit card though there are few places in China that accept international visas. I hope that helps. |

| My wife - lao po is what she wants me to call her - works. I send her money to pay some costs, for example sending her things here etc. Because we are waiting her license to move here, I have sent her money for flying ticket. I use my own account to send her money to her account in China. Bank takes about 10 euro. Money goes from my account monday comes to her account wednesday / thursday. No need for cards or pins. Destruckdoz, does Your pc show ??(2 questionmarks)=Mrs. If it does, Your pc doesn´t understand Chinese writing. If You have XP, then Start / control panel / language settings / extra settings ( I have Finnish XP, so maybe the names are not right) Anyway, if You find extra settings, there You can tick Chinese simplified and Chinese trad... | Danny, I use Babylon soft wear for my translations. Cost is about $30.00 per anum. It has a dictionary and can pronounce the word back to you. It can also translate sentences but be carful to read them back. It is not fool prove however. Baby translates as infant. Cheers, Dodger. |

| Danny, it can translate all major langues. First month is a free trail. I found that it helped me understand the sytax better. Cheers, Dodger. |

| I have noticed when translate English sentences to Chinese and then translate the same Chinese to English, it often is not the same any more. Once I sent my lao po few longer sentences in Chinese. She said it was not right but she understood what I did mean. I have used only that free on line translator at Chinese-tools.com. Thanks, Dave ;-) I know a Finnish guy who have a Chinese GF in Nanning. Her English is very bad and they have had much problems understanding each other. Now he uses that on line translator and problems don´t exist any more in large scale. Dodger, to use Babylon succesfully must use English? If so, then I must learn English first, damn, heh. Carlos |
