guest51094	I have been hoping to visit Leh Tibet next july and currently hold a British passport. I was hoping to get some information regarding the sort of visa I would require. And I also needed to request weither the tibetan monestries had any problem admitting a western woman into their midst for a few months??? I understand that there may be a slight problem with language but I wish to go there to understand the beauty in their worship. Is there anyone that I can give me the nessessary advice????

The visa part: You should be able to get a 3 month visa, with the possibility of a 1 month extension in China. Otherwise you could apply for a double or multiple entry visa which would allow you 2 or more 3 month periods (unless the grant you shorter periods only, which can happen). But that means you have to exit the mainland and re-enter. You also need a permit to enter Tibet and are supposed to be on a tour. Search in the forums and you will find some more info though I am sure someone else will add more detail on Tibet for you.
