" You only get one chance to make a first impression." I am not sure who said it. How, I agree 100% with this saying. When you date with someone or have an formal interview, the first impression is very important for you to further your relation.

Appearance has a great to do with your image. How can you establish a winning your image? Dressing properly is the most obivious appearance image. Depending on what you do and where you live, there is a right way or a wrong way to dress. Do you still remeber how you dressed when you dated your gals or men?

When I go an interview I go as we say " suited and booted " and on dates I go smart casual, but I should say on dates it's not so important because your date will prefer to see as you normally are.

That's why I always go on first dates in tattered clothes. I have to see how a gal reacts to me before she knows I have millions of dollars.

*** Just kidding *** I wish that were true!

Actually, I heard that expression when I was just a boy from my mother and father. They said it frequently to me when I was a boy and started shouting it at me when I became a bit of a hippy in the 1960's.

It is very true. Even my boss, a brilliant and successful businessman and leader, hides all of the tatoos he got on his arms while in the navy by wearing long sleeve shirts to work every day.

Dressing properly indicates that you respect others. More importantly, you will leave a positive impression on others. Well, dressing properly on formal occasions means that you should not wear some flashy clothes.

Griz, that made me laugh mate.
When I was younger I was a skinhead, so my gear would have been a Ben Sherman shirt and bracers, Levi stay press trousers half way up my legs and a pair Doc Martin boots.
Later it became a Crombie, Ben Sherman, stay press and loafers, very smart but it didn't stop us getting into the odd punch up.
The girls used to dress much the same and they even joined in the punch ups too.

OMG, Griz, you were a lit of hippy. How did you dress yourself at that time? Very unusual?
