According to the news, US Defense Department has signed contracts with three three firms--nternational Military and Government LLC, Force Protection Industries Inc., and BAE Systems Land and Armaments LP to buy 2400 mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles. The total value of these three contracts is about 1.2 billion US dollars.

'The MRAP is designed to survive blasts from improvised explosive devices and armor-piercing IEDs known as explosively formed penetrators or projectiles, the main killers of American servicemembers in Iraq. The vehicles have a V-shaped hull that deflects shrapnel, providing more effective protection for servicemembers inside the vehicle. MRAPs are replacing armored Humvees.'

Due to the self-bomb and other attacks in Iraq, the casualties have been increasing. To deal with this, MRAP vehicles will be transported to Iraq, replacing Hummers. In May, the Defense Department declared to ask about 25 billion dollars from Congress to buy 22000 MRAPs and most of them would be flied to Iraq.

This can not solve Iraqi war throughly. Perhaps, it will make the situation more severe. The best way is to retreat from Iraq and let Iraqi people administrate their country by themselves.
