Hey everybody

I'm going next week to China and have to go from the Shanghai Airport PVG to Wuxi downtown. It is approx. 130 miles. What is the cost of a taxi or is it easier to go with the train. It is my first time in CN and I'm not sure whether I have the patient to by train after a 14.5 hours flight.

Thanks for any help, and take care

GUEST70240 You'll spend more than 100 RMB by taxi (about 13 dollars), but my recommendation is to take the MagLev train (magnetic levitation) which will take 8 minutes to cover the ground that a taxi will take 30 minutes to cover. After you collect your luggage go to the second floor of the airport and walk through the skywalk that takes you over to the MagLev station. It costs 40 RMB (if you show them your flight stub from the day). Ride it to the terminus and then get in a taxi. The cost might be the same when you add together the MagLev and a taxi, but it's more convenient.

GUEST12196 That would be REALLY expensive.....why don't you get the taxi to the train station or the bus station....would take similar time for you to sit on the bus as compared to the taxi

Hi,Swiss,

If you are really very tired, you can just take a taxi to wuxi & also it is also very fast for train to Wuxi. The problem is your ETA time for your flight. When you will arrive at Shanghai?

Enjoy!

Yours sincerely,

Dear S

Thanks for your reply, I will arrive from Chicago at 14:25 in PVG. So I think the time frame is not the issue, just the 14 hour flight :(

I contacted a taxi company in Shanghai and they will charge me 800 RMB for one way from PVG to Wuxi.

That is my first visit in CN and I don't know how evrything works there and I know myself after this long flights I'm tired and grumpy :)

Thanks again

Swiss

You should definitely just take the bus from Pudong airport to Wuxi. No need to waste your money on a taxi (unless if someone else is paying for you), and no need to bother with going to town in order to get a bus/train to Wuxi.
Departures at 1520, 1620, 1720 and 1820. Fare is 100 RMB.

There's no bus "number". Get your tickets from the long-distance bus counter on the arrivals concourse of Pudong airport and they should be able to direct you to the correct place to board the bus.

Note that it's to the left of door no.9 of arrivals concourse. Look to your left after you exit immigration and baggage claim.
