Travel to China during CNY

Hi All,

I'm planning to bring along my family to China during CNY as they only got long holiday during that period of time.

Just wondering, as i know that CNY is a big festival in China and know that mostly people will holiday for almost 1 month. So if i travel during that time, is that those tourist places and shops are open?

Not only are the tourist places and shops open, they are overwhelmingly busy. If you must travel while you are here ( from city to city, for example ) try not to do so within 2 or 3 days before and after the start and end of the Festival. Make sure to pack lots of patience as the entire transportation system will be operating at maximum capacity.

Chinese New year falls on February 8 next year so the week around this date will be the busiest of all so book early, and avoid busy spots but otherwise it will be ok.

Most probably will go there on the 2nd of CNY . What you guys suggest and opinions?

If you mean 2nd week of CNY it shouldn't be too bad.

Hi,Felice821,

1-Since you visit China during CNY, I would like to suggest you to choose a small town or village to experience China traditional Spring Festival.It will has more interesting celebrations and habits instead of big cities.

2-Recommend city : Hangzhou / Shao xin / Wuzhen / Xi'tang
3-Rcommend villages: Guizhou province (Lang De / Xi Jiang / Sha yi / Zhao Xing)
GuangXi province ( Chengyang)
Yunnan province( Baisha town)
4-After you finish small towns/cities, you can come back to visit Beijing / Xi'an / Shanghai .
