In ancient China, astrology played an important part in people’s lives. Astrology was applied into almost every parts of the social life. Military experts use astrology to work out military tactics and strategies. Meteorologists forecast weather through observing the positions of stars and the movements of the planets. In dealing with marriage or dating, many people prefer astrology to evaluate whether they match with others who have different signs of the zodiac.

For instance, two persons with both birth sign Taurus are compatible, since Taurus is meant to self-match very well. However, you need to be aware that because both people will have the "stubborn" trait there could be a lot of clashing.

Do you believe in astrology? Do you know the compatibility among people who have different birth signs of the zodiac?

I look at what astrologers have to say for my star sign Libra in the paper to see if any of it has any truth in them but they say it should looked upon as a guide and not taken too seriously.
The way they describe me and my sign is pretty well spot on, the same goes with my Chinese sign the Rabbit, I read into it too much because it say I'm NOT compatible with my Han Jing when it seems we are.

Astrology can become a self-fulfilling prophecy; that is why I do not read about it.

I have read a fare amount about what I should be according to chinese and western and some of it is frighteningly accurate. Although there are some things that are not accurate.
Some people read their astrology in newspapers every morning and if it says positive things that help them through the day then it must be good.
It is much like a religion, some people believe and others dont. Choice is yours.

My last Wife was into astrology and readings.
She lived her life by what the Readers said.
I found a tape last year that she had left. On it the Clairvoyant said that she saw no future in our relationship.
So like Griz has said it can become as self fulfilling prophecy.
They feed upon the weak and the gullible.
As I understand it, fortune telling in the UK is still illegal. I hope it stays that way.

"fortune telling in the UK is still illegal". In China, I am not sure whether it is illegal or not. Maybe, government has lax scrutiny on this issue. Nowadays, many Chinese girls do believe in astrology. I just wonder if astrology is a kind of superstition.

Sunnydream,
This superstition is everywhere, not just in China.
We all want to know what is going to happen to us tomorrow: will we be rich? Will we be happy?
Surly if the Readers could really see into the future they would all be rich by knowing what stocks to buy?
Many of them do become rich but it is through the donations of their gullible patrons who give them money.
It is almost as bad as religions who preach a way to heaven but really only want control of their lives on earth.

Dodger,

You are right. We all want to know what is going to happen to us tomorrow. I want to know what my future is like. Does a prophet exist?

Sunnydream,
I think you know the answer to this.
The old churches used to demand 10% of you wages as a way of funding them.
Many new ones ask for the same.
If you are happy to send me 10% of you income I will show you the “Way”
I am only joking.
