| Hi Steve, There is a group of us expats (pilots and families) living in the high tech zone in Xian. We would be more than happy to meet you and give you the lowdown. We have only been here a short time but have already made many chinese friends who love to spend time with us because they all want to learn english. Let me know if you would like to hook up with us or if you need a place to stay while you find your own. We have an awesome chinese english speaking friend who could be your go to guy for everything you will need to get you set up. He was incredibly helpful with all of us. One word of advice: have lots of RMB cash available because all landlords require 6 months advance rent and 1 month security deposit. You an only get, depending on your bank, up to 2500 RMB out of the atm's here a day. Plus you have to pay for all utilities up front. Pay first then use. No bill at the end of the month. Let me know if we can be of any help. A.J. |
