According to a source, one third of the eight hundred in this year's Hu Run China Rich List are members of Communist party, 38 are delegates of NPC. What does the data suggest? It seems that there must exist the nexus bewteen politics and wealth. How do you view the relationship?

When I was at university studying politics in the late 60's I read a book called 'In a Few Hands' by Kefaufer (or a similar name). He wrote convincingly of how the wealthy controlled each nation's industry and either directly or indirectly the governments. China is no different in that the wealthy will protect their own interests, whoever they are.

In societies where a non-wealthy group gains control, it typically gains wealth. This appears to have happened in China. There are many reasons why this should be - party members are higher educated, had more knowledge on how to run businesses and all importantly they have the contacts.

This is an analysis of what seems to happen around the world. Is it right that this should happen, or is it wrong? You have to decide for yourself

GUEST44180 What does the data suggest? It means that if you are unelected, and unaccountable, and your economy is booming, you cannot help but get enormously wealthy if you are involved in Govt.

And, while 38 are delegates to the NPC, the other members of the NPC have hidden the money amongst family and friends so as not to arouse suspicion.

In my humble opinion, one of the largest thefts of all time is occurring right now. On what do I base this statement? The fact that it occurs in the west too, in spite of at times intense public scrutiny. Case in point: the Canadian govt in the late 90's could not account for over a billion dollars, despite the best efforts of a group of non - partisan, highly skilled forensic accountants. That govt was finally voted out, largely because of this scam. Here in China, there is no such accountability.

And, sure, now and again we here of some "minor" official caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but the mistake that was made was not keeping the payments up to a series of superiors...

Just my opinion.

What does politics mean? It means power. If you have power in your hands, surely wealth will come too. And if you are very wealthy, you also could gain power. In western countries, those parties are usually backed up by some syndicates. They have a big influence in politics, for example, policy makings.

Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin never had an interest in accumulating money.
They never carried any. Nor did they need to. Nor did they seek it. Both had no money of their own.
But they had they had the greatest aphrodisiac of them all: Absolute power.
Some Men and Women crave this.
I will never understand their quest.

Power abuses can be seen everywhere in the world. People are too greedy. If they have power in their hands, they also want money. Have you ever heard of this sentence? If you got power in your hands, you should fully make use of it. Otherwise, you will lose it some day. I guess that some of the corrupted officals have this thought.
