how to get to "not to touristy" hakka houses from Xiamen?

We went there already and really had a good time in Xiamen. But this time we would really like to see the earthen houses. But we do not want to join a group tour, especially after I read some comments on the web that some of them have became real tourist spot. So... What would be your recommendations? From where in Xiamen can we get a bus? Do we have to go up to Yongding (how long does it take by the way?) or is a way to stop directly to some hakka houses? We want to sleep hakka houses. Any of you has done it already? Where is it possible? Thanks in advance! Luodi

Visit Yongding County, Long Yan City, located in the mountainous area the western part of Fujian Province 160km west of Xiamen . The most common designs are rectangular, round, triangular, pentagonal and octagonal.

Nanjing County, Zhangzhou City is located southeast of Yongding County, 52km west of Xiamen, you've "Tianluokeng Tulou" in Shangban Village, Shuyang Town, composed primarily of four round and one rectangular earthen houses.

DAISY Points: Join Date: Mar 30, 2004 Status: Offline	Xiamen has the direct buses to Yongding, from the Wucun (Wu Village) Bus Station. The price should be between RMB20-50. 4-5 hours to Yongding.

GUEST79997	I would love to visit hakka earth house. Is anyone can give me direction how to get there from Xiamen? I'm travelling alone but prefer not to join local tour.
