It is reported that Martina Hingis announced on Thurdsay that she would retire from tennis. Before announcing her retirement, she has tested postive for cocaine during Wimbledon. However, she told at the news conference that she had never taken drugs. The reason why she retires from tennis is due to her age and health problem. That is what she said.

Martina Hingis is the former No.1 who has claimed the grand slam for five times and also won Wimbledon Champion.

I really liked her playing style. It's a shame that she had to go out this way!

Yes, she is really a great tennis player. After giving birth her baby, she came bak again and scored many achievements. What a pity that she chooses to retire! I think she is smart, not as Jones. Jones has lost everything for her use of illegal drugs. Hingis did not explain this and just chose to retire.

I think it's almost impossible to be able to prove that you didn't take drugs. It's one of those things that's out of your hands.

Having said that, if she's rolling in money still, and can afford to hire one of the best lawyers in the world, there's a good chance he/she can clear her name.

But I guess it's not that important to her right now.

GUEST44103 So naive. So you think she was not guilty & was so nice to retire quietly ? But she is smart alright to quickly re-retire & hopes that probing will not continue.
Btw, which athlete admitted that he/she took drugs ? They would initially plead innocence or "set-up" by others. Only when they clearly couldn't get away with it, would they admit and plea for understanding, etc - all hypocrisy..

None of us in this thread has declared that she was guilty of taking drugs or that we even think she is guilty of taking drugs. Go back and read what we said more carefully!

And calling someone naive is not a very nice thing to do. Especially when you don't have any basis to do so.

GUEST40122 Hahaha !
I have read/re-read the above messages and don't understand the cause of your outburst again. Anyway, I suppose that such a nice guy like you must have good reason for it and the faulting party must be me. But are you prejudiced against me ?
I am so sad.
Nonetheless, I agree that "So naive" might have been inappropriately used on this occasion. So ok, I withdraw these 2 words with apology to all above - you included of cos.

If Guest44103 writes and apologizes, I will accept their apology. Guest44103 wrote the "So naive" post.

I don't know who you are.
