I need to carry some medicine from India for an Indian friend in China. I have a copy of the local prescription. Are there any issues which I have to be concerned about?

Generally speaking there is no problem, checking of baggage is not very common. Unfortunately a prescription would not be much help at the border as no-one is likely to undrerstand it - try using an international compound name in a pharmacy and they don't know it as they use Chinese names. And most countries with restrictions require prescription drugs to be for personal use.

If it a seriously controlled drug, or a large quantity you shouldn't try to bring it without making sure.

You'll probably be okay, as Paul said. However, carrying drugs into any country for some one not traveling with you can potentially bring you a world of trouble.

Investigate other options, like the postal system.
