Yesterday, the International Association of Athletics Federation announced the finalists of Men and Women 2007 World Athlete of the Year. China's Liu Xiang was one of three nominators. The other two are Tyson Gay (from US) and Haile Gebrselassie (from Ethiopia). Gay is 100 and 200 meters world champions. He also won gold in the 4x100 relay at the world championships in Osaka. Gebrselassie made a new world record in marathon in Sep. in Berlin.

Here are the three female finalists competing for 2007 Women Athlete of the Year.

It is reported that Tyson Gay has claimed the title of IAAF 2007 World Athlete of the Year. Chinese 110-meter hurdler Liu Xiang has been nominated four times till now. However, God of Victory does not stand on his side. Meseret Defar claimed the title of IAAF 2007 World Female Athlete of the Year.
