Hello everyone,
I'm coming to China with my family from December 24th to January 6th. Our tentative itinerary is this:
Shanghai --> Guilin/Yangshuo --> Beijing/surrounding area--> back to Shanghai

I have a few questions:
1. how cold is it going to be? Will it be too cold/snowy to take treks around the guilin area? Will the Li River cruise be open in this winter season?

2. Can we fit in another stop in our two week period? if so, where?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks
-sean

coming from winnipeg in canada, where our winters get to below 40 degrees celcius, i think that guilin sounds pretty warm.
thanks for the reply, any other thoughts about other destinations that might be along our route?

Look on Weather Underground for historical weather data: http://www.wunderground.com/global/CI.html
You should also look into exploring the destinations around Shanghai such as Hangzhou, the water villages (eg Xitang, Tongli) and perhaps even Huangshan.
