It's true that all the above-mentioned moments are quite significant not only for the western countries but also for the whole world. On March 11, 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev took office. That moment marked the decline of the superpower--USSR. "September 11th' sound an alarm for the USA. Home security has to been put on the top agenda of USA. "9.11" plunged the world economy into great recession.

GUESTARMSTRONG It seems that most of the moments were disastrous. The step that Armstrong took is a big stride for human beings. It is a real significant moment not only for the West but for the whole world. Why should someone include the death of Diana in the list?

GUEST40200 America was involved in WWII before Pearl Harbor. It's just that most asians were so distant from the fighting that they are not aware that the US and Britain were fighting alongside each other against Hitler.

GUEST40200 Diana was a sounding board to the Media alerting them that they need to change their ways. It's all good till someone loses an eye...or in this case, their life. Diana's driver was trying to get away from papparazzi when this tragedy happened. The only reason America cared about it was simply that Diana was an icon. She was the pauper and he the prince... it was a fairytale that many americans followed closely.
