Doesn't depend wher u are starting from?

It reminds me of an old joke............
Traveller: How do I get to Dublin from here?
Local: Sure, if I was going to Dublin, I wouldn't be starting from here!
(............but let's no go into old Irish Jokes! )

Hi, Can anyone advise please. Will be in Beijing this July. How difficult is it to arrange your own itinerary and transportation via trains/buses/air and lodging. Would to have flexibility on trip to alter plans rather than be at mercy of a tour schedule. Want to do Yangtsee cruise using local ferries or boats as opposed to big cruise ships. Would like to see Guilan and Lijiang and Dali, Xain and Shangia. Would like an idea on costs if possible , wheather it is more economical to do it this way or do I have to use the tour option. Problem with tours is the single traveler penalty.Any ideas would be much appreciated.

GUEST19212 Litang is one of town of Sichuan Province, in West Sichuan. So the best way is starting from Chengdu, via Wolong (Giant Panda), Damba(a small town of Qiang Nationality), Bamei, Xinduqiao( a beautiful place to take photo), Yajiang and Litang. Actually there's a big festival in Litang at Aug.: the Horse Racing Festival. And I got some wonderful pictures of this area. If you are interesting, just write me: hotmail.com|duxin99
