According to the news, Jia Yongqing, a real estate business man admits an old man who once begged along the street as his father. When interviewed by the media, Jia said that he just wanted to try his best to help this old man. Before he decided to visit this old man, he invites a media to accompany him and witness the whole process. What's more, he treated this old man in the most luxurious hotel in the local area and admited him as his father. Meanwhile, he promised to give him money on this old man's birthday.

Some people think that Jia just wants to take this chance to make him known to all over the country. What do you think? Does Jia Yongqing really want to help this old man or it is just a show made by him?

Why not? He can afford it. :-) Not many people can.

I'm not sure of his motive, why involve the media? maybe he is not as rich as he makes out, or he seeking fame?
I feel sorry for his father.

Why does he invite a press medium? His motive is suspicious.

Sunnydream,
Nothing much suspicious about the motives here. The Business Man seeks media attention.
If it was pure altruism he would have gone on his own and helped the beggar.
He is exploiting the poor man.
Shame on him.

By doing so, He, the rich man perhaps changed the
beggar’s life, and also got his reward,
Think about these wise and old words.
I read this as a child, and I think it represents the
question in this thread.

Giving to the Needy
"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before
men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no
reward from your Father in heaven.
"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with
trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on
the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth,
they have received their reward in full. But when you give
to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right
hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then
your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
