guest77142	I lost my passport and after going thru a nightmare at the US consulant and the PCB, all they are giving me is an exist Visa. I am worried when I go to Hong Kong to get a new F Visa I may have trouble since I have an emergency passport and no old Visa's in the new passport. I have a letter typed up by my company stating I work here and they have stamped it with the company stamp in China. I normally use Golden Mile conceirge service to assist me in getting my Visa. Will I have any trouble getting a new Visa since my has been lost and only thing that will be in my passport is the exit Visa. I live now in China and work in China but company does not want to get my Z Visa because of tax purposes, and I am not sure on how to get a residence Visa or even if I could. If i cannot get my Visa back in I have big problem as my whole life is in Clifford Estates. thanks for any suggestions or help. Yes I am US citzen. I have a 6 month 30 day stay multi entry visa when my passport was stolen.

MICKKINCHINA Points: Join Date: Nov 21, 2007 Status: Offline	I cannot give an answer to this! because I dont know! but Surley when you apply for a visa if you give the embassy a letter explaining what has happened, they should be able to check up on your last visa to see if you are telling the truth. I hope someone can give you some good advice! dont worry too much it will all work out. Regards Michael

I once lost my passport in Europe. based on that and the general way that the Chinese system works I think you will first have to obtain a new US passport. Then you will be able to apply for a NEW visa to enter China. You should ask the US officials how easy it is to get a new visa in HK and essentially how long it will take. Of course, you will need all the paperwork for this and will need to have it sent over...or take a trip home.

The Z versus F visa is a separate issue. Check previous threads for many discussins on this.

If you lose your passport, your visa will be useless even it is still valid. You need report the loss of your passport, apply new one and you have to apply new visa too.
