According to the source, US enjoyed a 2 to 0 lead ahead of Russia in the final of Davis Cup. Roddick beat Dmitry Tursunov to give the United States a 1-0 leg up in their quest to dethrone defending champions Russia. And his teammate James Blake beat Mikhail Youzhny in four sets. According to the rules of Davis Cup, US can realize their dream of claiming the champions as long as they win their double games tomorrow. If this come true, that means US claims the champions of Davis Cup after 12 years. What a long time!

During the game against Tursunov, Roddick broke his rival's service four times and served 25 ACEs. It is he who encouraged his teammates and finally won their games.

Do you think US will claim the chapions? What do you think of Roddick?

Hi Kevin,

I don't follow Davis cup as it doesn't have the same importance that the major Grand Slams have.
It almost seems trivial to me.

I view Roddick the same way I view Agassi, Nadal Courier, and all the other power players. :)

Unfortunately for the U.S., they are no longer on top of the tennis world.

Serbia and Russia have been quite strong in recent years.

BTW, did you receive the e-mail I sent you?

Why? As far as I know, Davis Cup is for team competition and it is not as exciting as other major Grand Slams. However, I think it also worth watching. A good player should also play for his country not just for himself/herself.

Yes, Canadaguy. There are many top tennis players who are from Russia, especially women players, for example, Maria Sharapova. Those girls not only play tennis well but also look very beautiful. I do not know much about Serbia tennis players. The only one I know is Novak Djokovic, a promising tennis player. Except him, are there any other players?

Yes, Canadaguy. Thank you very much. I will download the videos and watch them. Perhaps, we could have more discussions on them.

Yes this is true. But in reality, whenever a tennis player steps on the court in a professional match
they are representing their country to a degree.

It's true they are earning money for themselves, but they are also establishing a reputation that always will mention/promote their country should they become successful.

I also really enjoy watching Sharapova play. She is very beautiful to watch and has great tennis skills too.

There is a trio from Serbia now who are very good and becoming more and more well known each year. Two women and one man:

Jelena Jankovic
Ana Ivanovic
Novak Djokovic

Watch out for any player whose name ends in 'ovic'. :)

Yes, CANADAGUY. This reminds me of a footballer from Czech. His name is Pavel Nedved. The reason why I like him is just because of his loyalty. He has been playing for Juventus for a long time and did not leave when Juventus was degraded from Italy A series. For his motherland, he never refused his national team's call as long as they need him. Unluckily, Czech is not a strong team in Europe. Finally, he retired from his national team with a pity. The other one is Shevchenko who has the similar experience with Nedved. He is from Ukraine. His national team is also weak. But he still keeps fighting for his country. Both footballers are worth my respect.

"I also really enjoy watching Sharapova play. She is very beautiful to watch and has great tennis skills too."
Except her, there is another female tennis player. Her name is Anna Kournikova. However, she is not as good as Sharapova. Personally, I think that she is a entertainment star, not a tennis player. Undoubtedly, she has a good appearance. It is a pity that she chooses to be a star, not a tennis player.

Well, I really need to make up my lessons on tennis. I have never heard of the other two players except Novak Djokovic. Next time, I will pay attention to those players whose names end in "ovic.
