guangzhou over the new years

guestChaim I'm going to be in Guangzhou for a day on february 7th, the new year. Are the tourist attractions open on that day? Will any of hte markets be open? Are there any festivals/celebrations I shouldn't miss?

Guangzhou is known as the 'flower city'. I know that on the new year eve, there will be flower markets in the streets of the city, when many citizens would walk out to appreciate these lovely petals.
