where can i buy a PLA hat with Red Star

would love to buy one of those hats that the soldiers wear - trimmed with fur and with a Red Star .

are they available to buy and if so - where from and abouthow much

I do not know if the exact hat you describe is available for sale and you do not say where you will be.

However, if it is available your best chance of finding it is in a military surplus store. In Chengdu near the Tibet Hotel there are dozens of military surplus stores right next to each other. ...and I read on this forum a while back that Beijing has the world's largest military surplus store.

If I can find that thread, I will post it for you.

I'm pretty sure you can find it in Beijing and Shanghai. In Beijing, I'm not sure if the small market at Mao's Mausoleum is still there; otherwise try Panjiayuan Market. In Shanghai try the area around Yuyuan Bazaar.

In Shanghai Yuyuan Bazaar,you will find it in many shops.I am sure there is no Morrison Street in Shanghai now.
