According to the news, Zhu Zhigang, vice minister of Ministry of Finance said that Ministry of Finance supported to impose tax on crude oil products, starting at 5 percent and later to be raised to 10 percent. The move aims at promoting energy saving. The longer you drive your car, the higher tax you should pay. However, he did not disclose when this policy will take effect.

Actually, China once decided to impose fuel tax four years ago. But it didn't implement this policy, fearing this might make consumers angry, especially those taxi drivers and poor farmers. The inflationary rate of November reached 6.9%, which was the hightest in recent 11 years. The main reason is the soaring prices of food. For this reason, the implementation of imposing fuel tax has been delayed again.

What do you think of fuel tax? Does it really help save energy?

The oil cost has been raised much. If the tax is implemented, maybe the charge for taxies would be higher again. Terrible!
I think the policy is maily used to limit the private cars. Perhaps we should first think about the replaceable energy. For example to use the electricity and decrease that cost.

If the charge for taxies rises, that would be bad. To impose fuel tax on those private cars is a good idea. Perhaps, the traffic jam will be solved. Replaceable energy? A good idea. But it needs time to promote it widely in China.
