![]() | China's middle class may be booming, but a majority of respondents to a recent survey said they do not feel so wealthy. Do you belong to middle class? What are the standard for being middle class in your countries? Do you feel you are rich? A recent survey shows that most of China's middle class do not feel so wealthy. Only 12.7 percent of a poll conducted by China Youth Daily and Sina.com said they think they are living a middle-class life. The poll, entitled "Who will become the middle class in 10 years?" found that about 83 percent of the 7,313 people interviewed think a typical middle class Chinese needs to have a good and steady income, a house and a car. Nearly 70 percent think the middle class needs higher education and good manners. About 60 percent think a decent profession is a crucial feature that defines the middle class. What qualities should the middle class have? What do you think? |

![]() | Middle class in America is very distinct from the wealthy. Middle class means you have a house, a car and a health insurance. Some would include a medium class RV or boat. Middle class are usually employed individuals. Wealthy means businessmen and socialites. They usually have houses in different states and countries, lakeside houses or seaside vacation houses, some have a million $ yacht, stable of horses, mansions and high-end convertible cars. ^_^ |

"Nearly 70 percent think the middle class needs higher education and good manners." So the conclusion is: being middle class means you are materially weathy. You don't have to receive much education as long as you can make a lot of money. That's all. |

![]() | As to your question "Do you feel your are rich?", I think that being rich doesn't mean having all those material things like a boat, house, car, etc. There are many people who don't look rich but are worth a lot because all their money is in the bank. I think middle class is defined by, simply, by how much money you have. People sometimes mistaken the intellectuals for being rich, and although that is true in some cases, many intellectuals, because they value education and pursue knowledge instead of money, don't have that much money. People also mistaken the fact that someone is rich because they are intellectual, which is not true at all. I takes more than intellectuosity to get rich. The Chinese say they don't FEEL rich but being rich is not a feeling. - moondollars http://community.faithvine.com/ |
