Depends on what class of train and seat you want.
D train (fastest and most comfortable) is 51 RMB for 2nd-class, 62 RMB for 1st-class.
T train is 40 RMB for soft seat.
K train is 25 RMB for hard seat.
Those trains with no alphabet in the train name cost 13 RMB for hard seat.

You should've specified Shanghai airport, not just Shanghai.
Which airport, Shanghai Hongqiao or Shanghai Pudong? What time does your flight arrive?

At the top of the page you will see a trains tab, and a planes one too...you can get all the info there. Buses are harder to cost but usually a little more expensive than hard sleeper/soft seat, in my opinion.

Pudong airport. Arrival not fix yet but doesn't really matter since I will stay in Shangai for the first day.

In that case now why did you have to ask about Pudong airport, since you'll be staying in town for the first day anyway? Sorry but you seem to be leading me around in circles.

Hi we plan to visit China some time this year. But we need to find out some details as to how much do we have to "tip" the driver and the guide if we are to take the tours from China? Do we "tip" them on a daily basis or at the end of the tour?

Would appreciate any information you offer.

Thanks

Hello Ellyse

Thank you for your response.

We have not been to China before, and we are planning our first trip there. Also we intend to buy an individual tour instead of going on group tours. Usually when we book group tours from home, we were told to pay a certain amount which also covers guide's and driver's tips, and that if we find that the service is exceptionally good, we will "tip" them again.

Since you have clarified that tipping is not a way of life in China, then we are more at ease to give a "token sum" if the service is really good.

By the way are you working or studying in Shanghai ?
