He played as a centre back for Chelsea and was in the French team that won the world cup.
I only ever saw him play on television but he looked a good player to me, I think he has retired now as I don't hear much about him anymore.

Great, did he win the world cup? I just wonder when he made it. In 1998? Oh, forget to say 'thanks' to you. Thanks again for telling me some info about him.

you are right Kevin it was 1998 when he was in the French winning team.
I was right he retired in 2005 having finish his playing days in Qatar at the age of 37.

Really a surprise! I just made a guess and it was right. Cheers, Alan! He retired at the age of 37. I should say that he retired a little bit late. Most footballers choose to retire younger than him. As a British, you must be familiar with David Seaman. If I remember it correctly, he retired at the age of 40. Really a great goalkeeper!

BTW, that French team was a miracle. After winning 1998 World Cup, they won many other cups.
