Hi, Can anyone help?
I have an Australian passport with a Tourist Visa - category L - to stay 60 days after entry ( I entered 26 November 2007 )
The visa is valid for multiple re-entries - each of 60 days.after issue (which was August 10th, 07 ) up until February 10th- which is when I have to return to Hong Kong

My 60 days entry (from November 26) is up on Thursday 24th January- .
So my question: Can I renew the 60 days entry to stay until february 7
or do I have to leave on 23 or 24th Jan in order to come back for the last few weeks in China before I have to return to Australia?
I really dont want to have to pay ( Plus the hassle) to leave China just to come back for abit 2 weeks.

I don't know for sure but I think you can go to the PSB and apply for a NEW visa for a month. But if possible get someone to phone the PSB and aks - if they say they cannot do it, you won't have wasted the fee. Otherwise it will cost you the normal fee and teh visa will replace the existing one. Leave yourself enough time in case they say no.

Arlena,
I think you misunderstood one thing:
February 10th is the "ENTER BEFORE" date. It's NOT valid until date.

As you said, your first 60 days is up on Jan. 24, 2008. Before that, you have to exit. And you can come back before Feb. 10, 2008 under the same visa. After re-enter, you can stay another 60 days.

Or if you don't want to stay that long, you can have your L visa extended once with 30 days more in PSB. In this case, you DON'T need to leave China mainland for only the exit purpose.
Of course, if you extend it, the present one will be cancelled at the same time.

If you want to stay longer than 3 months, you can find an agent to have your L visa changed to F visa.

Thankyou BJ LEEO for your reply
I did realise that I could go and re-enter before Feb 10 - however I wanted to know if I could not have to actually leave before that time to stasy one a little longer .
if I could simply extend before that time.
However as you rightly say - i have been to to the local PSb and the helpful girl there said that I must either leave to continue the multi-re-entry part ( before feb 10) or apply for a new one while here - which would give me another 30 days from the date of application and make the original multi-re-ntry visa null and void.

Your last point confirms what I said. You can never renew a visa, only get a new one. So the PSB said they will issue you a new one that replaces the existing one.
