MONGOL Points: Join Date: Jul 14, 2006 Status: offline	hi everyone, will be traveling to lhasa in early Feb. wanted to go to everest base camp, does anyone know if the new highway is open yet? how long does it take for a round trip from lhasa to everest base camp? (with highway, and without) I was hoping to do it in 3 days or less, is it possible? willing to spend the money if i can get there and back faster. and a Chinese person told me that the train to lhasa from beijing is closed during the winter because of the cold weather, is this true? thanks. if anyone is going around the same time, let me know. cheers.

ELLYSE Points: Join Date: Oct 30, 2005 Status: Offline	No, the train from Beijing to Lhasa is still running year-round. I would NOT advise going from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp in 3 days without acclimatisation.
