Time is so fast.. Jan 14, when I made my first post here and It’s almost 3 months now since the day when my Chinese girlfriend and I had been separated. I tried to search a job hoping that i can come back in China but until now there is no good result…, Maybe because most jobs in China is for foreigners who can teach English… sad to say I’m not an English teacher and also I am not native English speaker and I think my English is not that good. I don’t know what I’m going to do right now, I know we need more patience and be strong... but we really don’t know until when we need to hold our patience…. There are times we tried to forget each other… and stop talking and thinking each other… But our mind can’t control our heart… I really can’t stop thinking worrying about her everyday… Our love, Our life, Our future and everything… Sometimes I feel like I can’t handle this anymore.. To live everyday with too much pain in our heart, It’s the same with live without life… We need to be strong and hoping someday we will have a peace of mind and be happy together...

Trew, where are you from and what's your education and professional background? Give us more information so we can provide you with more advice. I've been through this stage, trust me, money isn't everything. The thing that is limiting you might be your own predictions. There are more ways to work in China other than to teach English, its only one of the numerous occupations I've seen foreigners are suitable for. Even so, I've taught English in a German manufacturing company in Suzhou and an American R&D firm in Shanghai, and I'm not a native speaker either.

Claudios, Thank you so much… I’m 25M from Philippines, and a Computer Science graduate, Worked in the Philippines before… as a Web/Graphic Designer and then spent and worked almost 1 ½ years in Shenzhen, China as an IT Staff/Junior HK stock market analyst. I really want to go back in China to see her and hold her again, but honestly sometimes I lose hope and think that because of our complicated poor situations, its better to give up everything and accept that we can’t be together forever and just carry all the pains every single day for the rest of our lives… Love is so powerful… to Create pains… For all the readers please I’m so sorry… Coz I’m using this website to show, release and express my emotion… Thank you…

Trew, it's much better to get your feelings out in the open and to share with other people than to let it "eat you up" on the inside.

Trew, you have options. I have worked together with engineers from the Philippines in many different countries. If you have really, really tried and failed to find work in China you can always try for an overseas contract elsewhere (middle east?). I assume that if a relationship that you feel very strongly about has come to an end for financial reasons, you have figured out how much you need to get it going again. Get on to the agencies in the Philippines and see if an overseas contract would pay you what you need. If it would then ask your girl if she would be prepared to wait for you while you get better money together on an overseas contract. If you could get a job in say United Arab Emirates, Bahrain or Qatar it would even be possible to arrange a visa for your girl to join you there for a while.

Then you have an option to work in Shenzhen city or Hong Kong. As a foreigner, Hong Kong would be more competitive but has more positions. To my knowledge, there are many big firms in south Shenzhen as well but in terms of pay, may not be very good. There are tons of IT specialist in China and many of them seek work in Shenzhen/Hong Kong, you might have to highlight your competitive advantage to secure a proper job. You might want to check if there are firms from Phillippines in that region too. Check out some job sites online. i.e. Hong Kong http://jobsearch.monster.com.hk/ http://www.recruitonline.com/ China http://www.cjol.com/ (you need to use the quick search on the top right hand column to do a search) There are many companies who are employing staff for IT positions. Though some of them may be in Chinese. The least you can do is to submit your resume to as many online job portals as possible to increase your chance. Good luck friend, one piece of advice - think of your own career first rather than to put your relationship at the centre stage. Relationship is something that will come automatically with that and seldom provide the motivation needed to spur you into action.
