hi, I am likely to head for Mount Tai(Tai Shan) for my internship program over there and i am currently having some troubles sourcing for the right transportation to Tai Shan which is within Shandong itself.

To people who are familiar with the route:
Are there any recommended transportation that i should take and how much will it cost? i could really use some help over here.

Thanks a lot,
Kean

GUEST121 You can take a flight from Shanghai to Jinan and then transfer to Taishan. Also, you can take a direct train from Shanghai to Taishan. The trains No. T178 and No. T106 are all available. You can search the trains through clciking the blue navigator column " Trains" on the top of the web page. The trains must be very crowded at present. It is the peak season of China's Spring Festival Transportation.

Definitely the overnight train. Did it that way in June last year.

GUEST93251 Hi, I'd like to go to Taishan in two weeks, for the week end, and I don't understand how I can purchase a return-ticket (train); It seems impossible to buy it from Shanghai... And I'm afraid there will be no place left if I wait to be in Taishan.
Any advice ?

Buy a ticket coming back from Jinan. Jinan is only a couple of hours from Taishan, and the timings are good too. That's what we did last June.
Oh and if you'd like to see more tips/photos for Taishan, do visit my VirtualTourist Taishan travel page: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1d57/f4495/
Any more queries please email me at yahoo.com|ellyse99 and put "TravelChinaGuide" in the subject line, thanks.

GUEST47143 Hi I'm in Shang Hai for the next several weeks & really want to travel to Tai Shan.
I've heard that you can take the train, which is ~ 6 to 9 hours & it lets you out a few kilometers from the base of the mountain. I've also heard that you can fly there & its much faster. But I was told I would have to take a bus from the airport to Tai Shan. The only problem is, they said the bus only goes four times & the travel agent I spoke too didn't know how to find the times.
Do you know if it is better to fly or take the train? & if flying, do you know how I might find the bus times that leave from the airport?
Thanks you
Moses

Have you taken a look at my VirtualTourist Taishan travel page (http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1d57/f4495/) yet? You might find that helpful.
Train, not trail, I presume? These are the D trains.

Shanghai -- Taishan:
D76/D77 (0732--1413) 6h41min
D196/D197 (0756--1457) 7h01min
D32 (1042--1709) 6h27min

Shanghai -- Taishan overnight train:
T106 (2152--0559) 8h07min

Taishan -- Shanghai:
D78/D75 (1358--2044)
D198/D195 (1415--2112)
D31 (1429--2057)

No airport at Taishan, the nearest airport is at Jinan.
I would suggest that you take the overnight train there, then the D train to come back. I presume you'd like to save some money instead of going to Jinan to fly back.
What date and time can you leave Shanghai, and what date and time do you need to be back by?
