Is it cheaper to travel to Foshan Guangzhou, via Hong Kong?
Jan 22, 2008 07:13
guest72137 Hi,
I am at present searching for a flight from London to Guangzhou, but the airline prices are quite high. I was advised to take a flight to Hong Kong and then get a ferry or train to Foshan Guangzhou. Can anyone advise me on this matter.
1) Is this possible?
2) Is it cheaper?
3) What are the problems i might encounter by using this route?
4) Will i have to apply for a Chinese visa and a Hong Kong visa?
5) How long will the journey from Hong Kong to Guangzhou take?
6) Will i encounter language barriers in Hong Kong?

This will be my first journey to the far east, i will be going with a friend.

Thanks in advance for your help on this matter.

1) Yes.
2) Yes, especially if you're flying Oasis Airlines for London -- Hong Kong.
4) You didn't mention your nationality. I presume UK passport? Apply in advance for China visa (possible in London, or use a visa agency when you get to Hong Kong), you'll receive visa-on-arrival for Hong Kong.
5) Couple of hours.
6) Manageable level.

You could travel between Shenzhen and Guangzhou by train, it takes about 1 hours.
