![]() | Yesterday, I read a report on the website of News Week----The U.S. Economy Faces the Guillotine. In the report, the author warns that "America is on the road to recession, and many predict a worldwide slowdown. But it's a new economic order, and the emerging markets could take the lead." Who will create a new economic order? The emerging markets like India and China. When US sneezes, the global catches a cold. This was true in the global economy sector in last century. But US economy faces recession now. Will US still have huge influence over global economies? The media and economists in the west predict that US will not drag down global ecnomies. Do you believe it? If you are interested in this topic, please access to this page: http://www.newsweek.com/ |

![]() | No one can be the "leader" forever. Once US was the leader and it will be substituted one day. Quote:" The media and economists in the west predict that US will not drag down global ecnomies. Do you believe it?" I don't believe it. No matter US enters recession or not, it still have a strong influence over global economies. |

![]() | Most of the financial advisors are now telling us that the US economy is sliding and that the opportunities are elsewhere (the BRIC countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China). They use the term 'decoupling' to describe what is happening: the rest of the world is cutting its dependence on the US. It will slow the rest of the world while we realign but in the long run it will benefit the rest of the world. Market forces will ensure that scarce resources will stop being watred by innefiicient producers (in the US) and will therefore become available to those who can get greater economic benefit from them. Ain't it great to see market theory working against THE nation which has saying what a wonderful system market forces are and how we mustn't interfere with them. Sad for them thay they didn't listen to themselves. |

![]() | The purpose of making profits triggers better reallocation of resources, melts down the border of nations and betters off the rest of the world as a result. US initiates the globalization but I think US is still kind enough to take care of its neighbours within the scope of NAFTA |

![]() | "I think US is still kind enough to take care of its neighbours within the scope of NAFTA " Kindness is not something that enters into politics and big business. If the usa 'takes care' of anyone it will be because there is something in it for them! |

![]() | Agree, Paul. Somthing in there could be Canadian abundant natural resourses, Canadian high quality of uni grads serving in US, most importantly, Canada is a good dewlling places for those 'snow birds' who contributes in US when they are young and needs enjoy life and social security in Canada when they are retired. Mexico is cheap labors source for US, i guess. |

![]() | Actually, China is trading with those latin American nations, such as Venezuela, Brazil and Peru. Also, China has invested much there. Why? China is in demand of natural resources including crude oil, iron ore etc. India is competing with China in Latin America. The purpose is the same as China, looking for more resources to meet its huge appetite. |

![]() | I think it is a nature trend for economic development. You know, UK had ever been a great economic country in 19 century. But for several decade years late, it was depressing for expensive labor force, higher tax, unadvanced machines ect. All the businessemen like to spend lower cost to earn maximum profit. The work force of US is more expensive than developing countries, like China, India, also its very perfect environment protection system, limiting the manufacturer's action. I heard of Credit card companies are very popular in US, a lot of people own several credit cards and can loan easily, in order to meet their debts, people use credit card's game to meet their balance. I think that can make people lazy.If all the people living depending on loan can lead to financial crisis, for currency is devalued. i don't understand lots of economics, from view of point of a normal woman, i think if people can get money easily (borrow), they will not like to work hard. However this is not good to economic develop. |

![]() | Cheri, the workforce in China is cheaper than those developed countries and that is the main reason why those foreign companies establish their factories in China. However, China is developing fast and the workforce becomes more expensive so that some of the foreign factories choose other countries to make their products, for example, Thailand. Personally, I think it is good for China's development. We wouldn't want to be the world factories or assemblies forever. This forces China to develop its own advanced techonologies. |

![]() | I strongly agree with you, I am a Shanxi people, when I went back my hometown on Chinese New Year, I went to Jiexiu ( a district which specialize in making up coke), I am amazed by the phenomenon of there. It is terrible, all the lands are covered by black coal dust, there are a few trees or plants, if there are, there are wearing black clothes. The pollution is so serious. Our Chinese government are earning money at expense of their coutry's health, people's health. I think it is not a wise decision. I think the snow storm happened recently is a warn to our country. We should love our environment. |

![]() | "I think the snow storm happened recently is a warn to our country." Yes, Cheri. The snow storm has disclosed some problems. China should put more money to improve its infrastructure construction, especially in those distant areas. Also we should be always preparing for disasters like snow storm. Once it happens and causes serious effects, it is too late. Anyway, China government and its people have survived the harsh trial and are recovering very soon. It is reported that electricity supply in the last area attacked by the snow storm has been restored. Good news! |
