Hilary: focusing on women's bodies instead of their ideas is insulting.

guestfad Being the only female presidential candidate, Hilary has to face the fierce criticism and there are some annoying observationsabout a low-cut black jumpers.

Hilary Clinton is being scrutinized for her fashion sense – or lack of it. She wears unflattering trouser suits, floral-print blazers and uninspiring heels, her critics say; she looks “boring” and “cold”. “People have realised that fashion is not Hillary's main interest,”

Hilary can't bear the gossip and she responded:
“Frankly, focusing on women's bodies instead of their ideas is insulting,”
Hilary is innocent. Is she unaware that women have long been scrutinized on their bodies instead of their ideas. In the fashion world, women are the main force. The stereotype about women is ingrained. Think about the models on the stage, Hilary will understand the situation.

There was a time when women were seen as witches and burned at the stake. For centuries, it was ok to enslave people. The earth was flat and that the earth was the center of the universe.

Then, there comes a time when no matter what you do, your clothes when you were a child does not fit you anymore. That kind of attachment is touching, but just as some things are meant to be discarded, some thinking, no matter how ingrained has got to go.

"And the day came
when the risk
to remain tight in the bud
was more painful
than the risk
it took to blossom."

This reminds me of an essay I have read before. One line goes like this: Women have the obligation to be beautiful. To preen, for a woman, can never be just a pleasure. It is also a duty. Women are taught to see their bodies in parts, and to evaluate each part separately. Breasts, feet, hips, waistline, neck, eyes, nose, complexion and so on--each in turn is submitted to an anxious, fretful, often despairing scrutiny. Even if some pass muster, some will always be found wanting. Nothing less than perfection will do. Well, nobody encourages a man to dissect his appearance feature by feature.

IMO, this is the crux of the problem. Being a woman, Hillary have to face the pressure of old gender stereotype. Hillary has to confess: despite she has clambered up to a leading position in politics, she still has to work at being attractive. She is powless in the front of old trap for women.

If a woman does the real work to climb a high position, she is still under suspicion that she got her position by her attractiveness. In politics, it is hard for women to ascend to the peak. Hilary is fighting at the all-boys fighting club. Obama is her most powerful rival.

GUESTFAD "If elected, President Clinton will do more or less what Margaret Thatcher did: “wear some sort of power suit rather than strive for fashion elegance – except perhaps at state dinners or balls.” Similarly, Michael Pick, author of Be Dazzled!: Norman Hartnell: Sixty Years of Glamour and Fashion, a new book on the British designer who helped to shape the image of various royals, believes that Clinton “could work with a few designers to transform her image, much in the way Thatcher did”.

Hilary might be a good politician, but not a good wife. Think about why Bill had an affair with the mistress. Hilary failed to take care of Bill Clinton. I assume that American men prefer women that are not as ambitious as males.

I disagree. If we can justify cheating, then it is a free for all. Everyone can be justified to cheat. Cheaters will always find excuses to justify their action no matter how pitiful to cover their guilt. There is no justification for cheating. If you feel that you’ve been neglected, cheating is not the solution. And it is not your fault if your spouse cheated on you. It is a decision that the other person makes whether you are a good spouse or not. In fact, no matter how much you try to be the best spouse in the universe, they can always say you will never be good enough, and that is enough reason to cheat. The root of the problem lies within the individual committing the act, not the person being betrayed.

As for me, I don’t know Hilary so I don’t know whether she’s been a good wife or not. It’s not for me to judge, but even if she’s not, that still doesn’t justify the cheating.

This is not only a tragedy for women, but a social embarrassment. Gender stereotypes entrapped women for thousands of years all over the world. Men should learn that women are capable enough to manage state affairs. A funny phenomenon happens in the ongoing NPC session. News media follow a female governor. Because she is a rare animal among the "all boys club", ( she is the only female governor among 34 Chinese provincial administrative regions), she catched all journalists' attentions.
