chinese villages near beijing

guest41218 hello! i am a greek architecture student from Athens. My friends and i are planning a trip to China in April. Our destination will be Beijing, but we are interested in visiting some villages or smaller towns aroung Beijing or up to 3 hours by train. Could someone please help me/?

r u in group tour or backpacker?

whatever there r so many villages just good for seattle, the only problem is that they may be too much commercial developed.

If you're interested in architecture, I would suggest that you try Tianjin and Zhengding. A little further out (about 4 hours by the fastest D trains), try Shenyang. If you don't mind taking overnight trains, try Pingyao and Harbin.
