Friend is visiting me in Beijing for 3 weeks from late March; picked Xi'an Pingyao Datong as weekend trips but now wondering.... shall we string them together as 1 week (more or less)?

Travel by train by daylight is a plus. One way flight not unreasonable. An overnight on the train, manageable.

Just looking to squeeze alot into a short time and still enjoy.
Your advice most appreciated!

Hi, friend. Visiting three cities in one week seems a little busy and you may feel tired. But if you are energetic and insist on completing your travel in one week, it is possible. Xian is an important city which can offer many marvellous attractions, such as Terracotta Warriors, Xian Ancient City Wall, Provincial Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Qianling Mausoleum and so on, so Xian is a can't-missing place. You can spend more time on it. The famous attractions in Datong include Yungang Grotto, Nine Dragon Wall, Xuankong Temple, Huayan Temple and the interest of places in Pingyao are Qiao Ancestral Temple, Pingyao Ancient City, Shuanglin Temple.

If you get more details and make a better plan, you can browse the site: http://www.beijingservice.com/.

Have a good time.

travel agents are saying that Pingyao and Datong can be combined but Xi'an should be a separate trip.
Anyone with any travel experience of these?

Beijing -- Datong by bus is a little over 3 times the price of hard seat train, but it's much more comfortable and 2 hours faster.

GUESTWEN Hi Friend,
We (4 ~ 6 person) are planning for a 10 days tour to Beijing, Xian, Pingyao & Datong. Kindly advise us how to best suit the best itinerary for the 4 places.

Thanks and Best regards,
Wen

GUEST37152 Hi
I am planning a 10 days trip to the following places Xian - 2 days
Changdu -2 days (one day for Leshan Buddha)
Guilin -2 days
Huanglong - 2 days
Wanted to squeeze in either - Turpan (not sure how to go about it from Xian appears to be quite far and remote?) or Datong 2 days what is your suggestion which would be easier and yet a cheaper option without too much off the course in traveling.
cheers..
Mark

GUEST83E3 GUEST37152,

You may squeeze time to visit Yungang Grottoes. After that, you can take train to Xian. Turpan is too far.
