Is it me or is there an increasing amount of 'I want a female translator/companion' threads on this site?
It is very clear to most of us what the majority of these people are after and it is not in keeping with what this forum is about.

Alternatively have a new sections for people who are looking for Chinese woman so that nobody is under any illusion as to what the host is expecting.

GUEST16150 Hmmm... if the Chinese women guides are complaining about this I can understand that.

But I do not see why this is bothering a UK guy.

there are also quit some chinese women advertising here on the forum as guide (i mean as a real guide). Do they have to say then that they only want to guide women?? The majority of the business people that are visiting China are men.

It’s not my business but it’s very funny, actually. The main qualification being sought for a travel companion or translator is always a female. Why? Chinese men can’t be that bad, are they? I remember one even specifically said that he wants the female companion to stay with him all the time in his room! Why?? O_o

Westerners mostly believe in the idea of sexual equality and disapprove of any ads which specify gender when it has nothing to do with a person's capability to do a job. Likewise we object to discrimination on the basis of age or race or colour or being in a wheelchair unless one of these prevents a person from doing their job.

I object to the ads in TCG which specify a femail translator or guide unless a reason is provided, it is both sexist and potentially dangerous for the guides who may not have experience of handling foreign businessmen on their own - their are many cultural differences the guides are unaware of.

So I am behind Dave on this. Businessmen who want a woman should go to an escort agency site.

I agree with Dave and Paul,

There are too many 'ads' of this nature appearing on the forum, especially those where the male so blatantly posts his 'photo for approval'

Gender is not a valid job requirement for interpreter/guide and there are certainly many Chinese men with suitable qualifications who could offer their services without the complications that may arise where any unprofessional behaviour is likely to be expected or offered by either party.

Girls especially be warned that men are men and many of them will take advantage of a situation with a single young women even if it she is not aware of the risks.

GUESTGUESTSR
I met my girl on break in China while doing business. We now live together in China. I hadn't stipulated whether i wanted a male or female guide but was presented with an extremely attractive female. My girl chased me and was the one ringing me up (which i was very happy about).

I have recently been studying Mandarin on the internet and have had invites to Beijing.

There are probably a few other examples that i could come up with aswell, reguarding translators, tour guides, teachers ect.

I am not making any excuses for the obvious intentions of some of the posters on this forum but i just wanted to give a bit off an insight into some situations when then scouting comes from the other side of the fence.
