![]() | Kosovo’s move appeared a litmus test of the international community's attitudes towards secession movement. In Asia, the majority is against. China, Indonesia and Sri Lanka unanimously criticize the independence. Russia has the same stance with China. Japan is hesitating. USA, France, UK , Germany and Australia back Kosovo's independence. Others follow big powers' lead and were divided into two sides. Asian countries and Russia fear the " Domino Effect". Russia is particularly in fear of " the snake". Indonesia has just ended the chaos of " Free Aceh Movement" in 2004, which is the legacy of Tsunami. Tamir Tiger is still a trouble for Sri Lanka. Separatist Movement is on the rise in the recent era. It is a very complicated issue. One thing is for sure: any sovereign country does not expect to see " the Domino Effect" occuring in their own land. Indonesia don't want to see East Timor's independence either. |
