| Hello, I was just wondering how the ID card system works in Hong Kong. I currently live in the UK and go back every 3 years to renew my ID card. When I turn 18 I was thinking about taking my boyfriend (he's English). My quires are *Is there any areas that are restricting in Hong Kong that you cannot get to with a visa? *How would I renew my ID card and where will I have to go? *Would my boyfriend have any trouble getting to the places where I will need to renew my ID card or anywhere else? Any information or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance! -MissAnonymous |

| i think they were renewing them because they have a new kind of chip cards, if you are a permanent resident, you only need to renew it once, perhaps you need to change for an adult card at your 18th Your bf can enter into HK without a visa for 90 days for those expats working in HK it's about the work visa renewal, the ID card has its record automatically updated in their system, no need to change |
