What topic is the hottest right now? Edison Chen's sex photo scandal. It is said that about 3/4 Hong Kong people have watched those photos. In total, about 1/5 Chinese have watched or have downloaded the photos.

It is reported that a high school in Chengdu has used this incident as teaching material by negative example. The teachers tell their students that they should learn self-proctection and warn that it is illegal to spread or view those photos. Some people applause for the high school while others disagree. A review even claims that it can be served as the best sex education material for students.

What do you think of the high school? Should the incident be disscussed in class?

Actually, a certain part of students in high schools have watched those photos. It is reported that some people in the south make use of these nude photos to make DVD or VCD to make money and some of the customers are students. When interviewed, a boy in high school told the reporter that his classmates talked this topic heatedly and he said that many people has watched those photos and that you were behind the times if you didn't watch them.

I strongly support the high school in Chengdu. The young guys are very curious. The nude photo incident has been spread widely. Of course those students want to know what the incident is. If they were not given some guide, adverse effects will be caused. With the help of the school, they will have a clear understanding of the incident.

Oh my, you mean the police wasn’t able to stop the spread of the photos? So that means they are not really making good on their promise to go after the downloaders. Heh, well, kids are going to learn about these things eventually anyway.

GUESTNEWBIE Hello all,

I am a Chinese freshman majoring in English. I won't comment on the topic. I felt that there seems to be some misinterpretations of the words of Faeriequeen. Leopold may misunderstood the words.

I thought Faeriequeen means" Yes, it's very good "education material". " Faeriequeen doesn't correct any grammatical mistakes. Obviously, Leopold mistaken that Faeriequeen corrected the choice of words. Am I correct about this? My English is not good. I came to learn English and I have no offence to anybody.

Can any native speakers explain what Faeriequeen's words really mean? I will be very grateful for help? Thank you in advance!

Hi guest, I think Leopold agrees with me that the lesson that can be drawn from the sex photos saga is about copyrights, and the vice of the consequences we could witness in the wrongdoings in uploading and sharing these photos

It is a good topic for the discussion or morality, and expectations of behaviour by public figures and whether we should expect more of them than other people. We could also discuss whether he is being punished for what he did or for being caught - because he most certainly isn't the only one!

Yes, you can use it for teaching copyrights, but surely there are other less sensational materials for that.

Hey, Queen and GUESTNEWBIE. I misunderstood what Queen said. I thought Queen just wanted to correct my title. I agree with Paul that it is a good topic for morality and expectations of behaviour by public figures.

The whole incident would be a good subject matter on why public figures should be looked up to as idols, and then get all riled up and disappointed if they don’t live up to our ILLUSIONS. They’re not angels and certainly not infallible. They are human, just like the rest of us.
