Anyone has any information about teaching engineering at an university in China? I am a 26 year old Chinese-American. I am curently an aerospace engineer working nasa and doing my phd. I love my job but I really like to work overseas before I settle down. I am hoping sometimes in the next couple of years I can have the opportunity to teach at an university in china (a year or 2) within my field. Any ideas?

Hi Jing

I don't have any specific information on teaching engineering, most teachers come to China to teach English. However, I am sure there are vacancies out there for Foreign Experts to teach Engineering.

I found this website just by googling: http://www.ncuk.ac.uk/ncuk/vacancies.php?job_type=6

Might be worth a try to contact them and make some enquiries?

Otherwise I'd suggest searching for Chinese universities that specialise in Engineering and emailing them directly.

Good luck.

Back at the beginning of the year there was a uni in Dalian looking for an engineering experienced English teacher. There are colleges/institutions around Zhanjiang and Maoming in west Gaundong that teach English to the oil exploration industry but I don't know exactly where. Most engineering courses and colleges probably don't teach English to their students. Contact the agents that advertise but watch out because they will offer jobs in places that are not engineering.

guestash, simply put teach China in google and take a look.

Best sites around at the moment are:

http://www.eslteachersboard.com/cgi-bin/China/index.pl
http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/china/

Most jobs will tell you all the information you need, including what qualifications you need and what salary and hours you will get.

GUEST12371 Dear Jing,

I am plus 50. A professor, and an Aerospace Engineer. I have done my Masters in Aerospace Engineering from USA. I have more than 20 years of teaching experience of aerospace subjects. I have taught almost all the aerospace subjects. I have done my post graduation from Beijing Aeronautical University in 1984 (at that time it was Institute). Yes I can fluently speak Chinese language.

Is there any Engineering University in China requiring Engineering instructor to teach in English? I can come over to teach for one year maximum.

Regards,
