What do you think of this saying? Does it work in reality? I have little knowledge of Richard Steel? Did he master his own fortune?

My father always told me, "You make your own luck."

What he meant is that by working hard and believing in yourself that you would create good opportunities for yourself.

It is the same idea expressed with different words.

I believe it is 99% true...the remaining 1% is knowing what to do with an opportunity when it presents itself.
