![]() | Kaiping needs at least a full day. Dialous are watchtowers, unique in its genre in the area. I've posted some photos and introduced briefly in the Guangdong photo sections. Go there if you are only interested in old villages. Read my review in Guangzhou. Dim sum is not to be missed there and the culinary is in fact part of the 'intangible cultural heritage' in the cantonese south. Most chinese restaurants offer good food but I would recommend trying one of the oldest. Datong near the Pearl River is a good one. the cruise you can forget |

![]() | I think the best experience in Guangzhou is to go and relax in the People's Park. Here you will find total old people, young people, crazy people, handicapped people, poor people, rich people, clever people, and stupid people, all playing together without even a hint of prejudice against one another. It is wonderful to see, and creates the best atmosphere I know of anywhere in GZ. Around 4pm in the afternoon is the best time. It is free, hence why so many locals go there. It is rare to see any foreigners there (except me - I am there most days playing jianzi!). |
