Seeing a doctor in China
Mar 2, 2008 05:47
guestGuest medit8a I am thinking of volunteering to teach English in China, but have diabetes and need regular medical supplies. Is Western medicine available in China? Thanks in advance for your help. BTW I want to join but the log in doesn't seem to work. Wayne, Australia

Hi Wayne,

Western medicine is available in China. You shouldn't have any problems, especially if you go to one of the larger cities where there are western medical centres, staffed by foreign doctors.

If you go to a small city then get yourself a Chinese friend who can help you translate at one of the local clinics. Also, get important medical information written down in Chinese, for those times when an English-speaking Chinese friend isn't around.
