This is an old weighty topic but hasn’t yet been resolved. A large profortion of people believed that it is impossible to talk about love and marriage without talking about money. Without money, love is an extravagant hope. So it is. Job is the source of money. Family is the haven of the heart and space for resting. Feeling is the love towards friends, lovers, parents and pepole we care for. Frequently, conflicts happened among the three. Have you think over the relationship among the three things? Which one is the most important in your heart?

To me that is a " no brainer " kind of question, family come first every time. Alan

“Feeling is the love towards friends, lovers, parents and people we care for.” Then I’d say love because it encompasses family, friends and even oneself. A job as a source of income is just another expression of love. Your love motivates you to work for them and give them the best you can. It's just a matter of balancing priorities.

Shesgottobe, You got it. I can' t agree with you more. Love is the ultimate motivator in our lives. Love is what we are striving for. Job is inferior to love.

The title should be changed: Which one do you value most, job, family or love? Here love has a narrow sense, meaning affection to a girl or boy. This topic is what Chinese people talk a lot.

Alan, if your parents want you make a choice between them and your lover, who will you give up? Some Chinese parents make this dilemma for their children. If they are not satisfied with their children's BF or GF, they will make their children make a decision, your parents or your BF/GF? I know what you mean Guest007. But in my case both my parents have passed on and I'm now the head of the family and as you may have seen in other posts I have recently married, so my wife and my daughter from my previous marraige are my family. I should also say when my parents were alive they always supported my choice of girlfriend. Alan

My brothers and I were barely teenagers when our parents told us to decide things on our own. I think they got tired of us asking for permission for almost anything. “Learn to decide things on your own. What are you going to do when we’re dead? Exhume us?” O_o On a serious note, my parents love and trust us. They never put us in such a situation and never will. As always, they just want us to chase our dreams and be happy.

Love is patient, Love is kind, It does not envy, it does not boast, It is not proud, it is not rude, It is not self-seeking, It is not easily angered, It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. Love never fails. ~ Corinthians 13 : 4 - 8

We all should be indebted to our own family members who raised us and supported us along the way. |
