According the data released yesterday, China has collected 200.5 billion yuan from the stamp tax on share trading last year since China raised the stamp tax from 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent in May. Compared with 17.9 billion yuan in 2006, it has increased 1000 percent.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the individual tax receipts took 6.2 percent of the tax revenue of 2007. However, the revenue from the stamp tax made up 4.4 percent, mostly gained from share trading. No wonder more and more investors require the government to cancel the stamp tax.

GUEST0258 How about this year? Anyone can estimate the figure? Since the market has become bearish, I guess that the stamp tax revenue will be reduced very much. The news said that China wouldn't cancel stapm tax. This might disappoint these investors.
