Visa to Hong Kong
Mar 10, 2008 18:56
guestCurlynSoul I am applying for visa in China mainland as I am arriving in Beijing from UK (manchester) and I am hoping to go to Hong Kong from Shenzhen (domestic flights connection) Upon my arrival in Hong Kong, will they provide us visa? Because I have looked up in visiting Hong Kong, it pointed that you DO NOT need a visa unless you are staying for longer than 180 days. I am only staying for about 2/3 nights. So why are u advising others who have the same questions to have a visa? Do u means that when u reach the custom u need to show MY own chinese visa or will they give us a hong kong visa to acknowledge that I am in the island and prove that I have left Hong Kong?

Greatly appreciates,

Helen

Helen.

If you have a UK passport you will not need a visa to enter HK. As you rightly say, you can stay up to 6 months without any problems. The only issue here is that you need to be aware that you will not be able to return back into mainland China from Hong Kong unless you get another visa (easily done in HK).

You don't mention what your plans are after HK? If you are flying back to the UK, or on to another country then you do not need to worry. But if you plan to return to Shenzhen or any other mainland destination, then you should apply for a double entry chinese visa in the UK, or get a second visa when you are in HK.
