Just wish to share that while visiting LiJiang, Yunnan over the new year break, I have fallen into a setup in a massage parlour of a 4 stars hotel. I have heard of such setup before this and thinking that only applies in those dorgy (Karaoke) places, but didn’t expect it to be in a 4-stars hotel. It appears that it also occurs in most of the (4 stars) hotels we have stayed in Shangri-La and others throughout Yunnan. As such, a “massage” (with so called unwanted “special” service) cost me altogether Rmb 1,050 and I was lucky to get away with no injury. Please be careful! And for readers from the local authority, what should have been the appropriated actions at that moment? Cheers, Hue.

I feel ashamed to hear about this, and luckily you got away safely. Did you try to complain this hotel to the local tourism office?

No, I was on a tour and didn't have the time, or know where to report. I did speak to the driver and tour guide, but nothing they could do. One friend suggested, if there was travel insurance, then possibility is to call the local police and claim as a robbery. Not sure if that will work.
